Yell launches SMS directory enquires

Yell has launched a new text message-based directory enquiries service.

The 118-24-7 TextBack service allows consumers to make simple SMS-based directory enquiries from which they can expect a fast text response with an embedded link to the telephone number they’re looking for.

Consumers can make enquires at any time of day, seven days a week.

Mark Canon, Yell UK’s president of new media, said: “For occasions when making a phone call isn’t appropriate, 118 24 7 TextBack makes it easy to locate and call a late-night taxi, a nearby Italian restaurant, or find out cinema information and film timings.

“We expect it to be a very popular and useful way for consumers to contact our database of more than 2.3 million businesses.”

Yell’s first ever stand alone TV advert campaign is being launched to promote the new service.

Texts to 118247 are charged at £1 per message, plus standard network rates.
