Apple sells one million iPhone 3GS in three days
Sales of Apple’s latest iPhone handset have topped one million units just three days after launch.

The iPhone 3GS has been rushing off the shelves at handset retailers around the world.

The instant success of the 3GS echoes the popularity of the iPhone 3G, which also sold one million units within three days of its international launch last year.

By contrast, the first iPhone handset took nearly three months before one million handsets were sold.

Apple’s iPhone 3.0 software has also proved a huge hit, with six million users having downloaded the free update since its launch last week.

Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs was so impressed by the instant popularity of the the new iPhone that he made his first public statement since leaving the company in January due to medical problems.

“Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,” Jobs said.

“With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.”
