With the launch of the Palm Pre just around the corner, it is turning out to be the most productive summers in smart phone manufacturing - and indeed, it looks very promising. Now, there’s word that HTC, one of the world’s handset giants and maker of the popular Android-based T-Mobile G1, is going to launch another Android phone, the HTC Hero, on June 24 in London.
Reports said that the Hero will come in two configurations, one with a QWERTY keyboard and one without. The keyboard model will be named the HTC Memphis or HTC Lancaster, and will be sold exclusively by AT&T Wireless for six months starting in the third quarter, EDN states.
Aside from Google’s Android OS, the Hero will features HTC’s own TouchFLO 3D user interface. This is the same interface used by HTC’s Touch Diamond 2 and HTC’s Touch Pro. These phones run on Windows Mobile OS.
Reports from the UK indicate HTC is planning a bash for June 24, and that it’s notifying journalists to prepare for the big launch event.
